Our HomeSchool Adventure - the Prequel
When my now 25 year old daughter was in 8th grade, she found me in the bathroom (brushing my teeth) and asked me if we could homeschool high school - just straight out asked. It took all of my self-control to not choke on my toothbrush! As we talked, she poured her heart out about her days at school being filled with wasted time and wishing she had more quiet time at home. (I sure did have a quick vision of clobbering our NextGen minister, and possibly her LifeGroup leader, since I was sure one or both of them planted this crazy-town thought in her mind.)
Turns out, our Sweet Holy Spirit can speak to a 13 year old girl, just as well as He can speak to her 44 year old mama. And what a delight it turned out to be to pull her out of public school, guide her through a tailored high school experience, prepare her for a successful college track (even thriving during the shutdown - hey, we homeschoolers already knew how to shelter in place), and now see her in a career where she thrives and a life she loves.
If you’re in a homeschool phase and need some encouragement and maybe a little direction in how to run your homeschool more like a business, please reach out to me and let’s see how we can set up your homeschool so you can focus on your students and less on the recurring administrative sinkhole that can feel all-consuming.
